  • All of us are impacted by life and experience stress, anxiety and mild to strong trauma. Whether you experience stress, depression, anxiety, or trauma it can cause serious mental/emotional changes. Traumatic events can have negative physical side effects, even in previously healthy individuals.

    What is a traumatic event?

    Trauma is defined as a wound or shock that creates an experience that produces psychological injury or physical pain. Traumatic events may include:

    • Mental, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, bullying, and family conflicts.
    • Natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, fires, and tornadoes.
    • Ongoing exposure to traumatic events experienced by first responders, police, firefighters, paramedics, emergency room professionals, health professionals, and teachers.
    • Experiences of war, terrorist attacks, and bombings.
    • Technology that exposes us to "life-like" images of disasters and crimes.
